Letter #2:
Much has changed in our world, in our lives, and in our organization
since I announced for YDA President in early February. However,
my commitment to making the Democratic Party stronger and to making
our country a better place to live, has not changed. As we stand
here now, just over four months from the YDA convention and just
19 months from the next Presidential Election, our focus and our
goals remain clear.
Our members are active, engaged and ready to define our Party for
the next two years and beyond. As a Party, we must define who we
are and what we stand for. As an organization, we must take the
opportunities before us now to provide the necessary leadership
to move our Party forward.
We must be a voice for young people, both inside and outside of
the Democratic Party. We must reward activism and display conviction
on the critical issues of today, while respecting the vibrant diversity
that makes our Party great.
We must be able to set and meet goals not only with dollar amounts
and warm bodies, but also with ideals and broad vision. We must
be able to provide money and resources to our state and local chapters,
but we must also be a forum for creating leaders, building diversity,
and crafting the tools of democracy, not only for the next election,
but for all future elections.
I have been excited to visit with Young Democrats from across the
country, and I have been extremely privileged to attend state conventions
in Nebraska, North Carolina, California, Arkansas and Mississippi.
In the coming months I will continue to be on the road and on the
phone learning from you, and hearing from you about the issues that
matter for the future or our organization.
I hope that you are also excited, committed, and ready to help
build YDA as it has never been built before. I am fortunate to be
part of an experienced, energetic team that will work together for
the future of YDA. They are more than just a fine team of candidates;
they are a tremendous group of individuals. I know that you will
be as excited as I am to hear more of what they have to offer to
YDA.
Finally, this campaign, and this organization, cannot be successful
without your participation, your input, and your ideas. Please feel
free to visit my website at www.gallaway.net and learn more about
my campaign and to share your ideas with me. I welcome your calls,
your e-mails, your conversations, and your input. I want to hear
from you, now and in the future. I look forward to visiting with
you soon.
Sincerely,

Chris Gallaway
